Electronic range selector(ERS)

The switch from drive to ERS explained in the manual don't work. I only can drive Automatic & by moving the lever to - or + nothing happens...
How can I enable this function please?

when you flip the car to tiptronic the gear selection on the dash will change to numbers. also there is normaly a sport mode and you ussaly have to slip it into that selection which normaly changes the selection to S. if your car is not equiped with a traction control button then you likely don't have the function.
