How do I know if my 2012 XLT Ford Escape has 4WD or AWD?

I just purchased a Ford Certified Pre Owned 2012 XLT ford escape. I was told the
vehicle has 4WD, but I was told quite a few other things that turned out to be not the
case. I'm concerned that this car does not have at the least AWD, which I need for
work. Is there any place I can look up using the vin number? Is there a way to call the
Ford Manufacturer? I have no button or switch to move in 4WD and I was told the
computer does it.
