I have a 2002 Ford Escape with 100K miles. Without warning the transmission started acting up. When I floor the gas, the car does not react; the tach goes to 4000rpm but the car does not go like it should. The car also does not have power to climb hills very well even with the gas to the floor. I was told that the clutches were bad so I purchased & installed a remanufactured tranny from Advance Auto. Once the install was complete, I started the car up and let it warm up and made sure all fluids were at the proper levels. Took it for a test drive and to my surprise, the same thing was still happening. Any thoughts on this? 6 Answers
