2012 GMC Terrain - intermittent blower motor.

Asked by Bill Feb 03, 2019 at 03:03 PM about the 2012 GMC Terrain SLE1 AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am very electronically knowledgeable just not familiar with our 2012 GMC
Terrain. It’s blower motor sometimes stops for minutes at a time - intermittent
blower motor. Once or twice a week the blower motor fails to spin. Same
regardless of what setting, manual or auto, and selecting all speed settings.
Doesn’t sound like an issue with a speed resister block if there is one. I
suspect maybe a power relay or some other power feed related component.
Just not sure, w/o a schematic, where or what to look for.

You probably know more than I do but I was thinking the "automatic climate control" system might be doing that, at least while set on "auto". As a test, I would power the motor directly with 12 volts and see if it runs steadily. It may be hard to get hooked up, but that would eliminate the motor as being faulty if it runs okay.
