Why noise from all 4 rims?

Asked by deldgomes Dec 07, 2016 at 09:19 AM about the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Limited Roadster RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Changing over to Blizzaks for winter, the rims made clicking sounds. Clearance is not a problem and fitment is correct. Frustrated, I returned to my regular set. They are now making the same sounds. I reset the rims and slowly tightened the lugs. No improvement. What is wrong?

No hubcaps. Returning to regular set did not correct a problem that did not exist earlier. Can it be I am not properly aligning the rims correctly? I have changed many tire sets and this problem has me unnerved.

Wheels are either on or off, you can't mess them up unless you forgot to tighten the lug nuts. If the clicking is worse when you turn right or left then it is the CV joint(s).

This is sometimes an issue with Crossfires when the Lug bolts are over torqued. When they are over torqued they tend to hit the brakes.. Have the installers back them out and make sure they are not damaged (both bolts and brakes). If not then they need to be torqued to 81 ft/lb's
