2011 Subaru Outback transmisiion

Asked by jbromet Jul 02, 2019 at 07:13 PM about the 2011 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The transfer case of the CVT transmission destructed after only 135K miles (beyond warranty). I already invested in head gaskets, also an expensive repair. Subaru offers re-manufactured transmissions but at nearly new prices. Subaru offers to inspect the damage at my expense but offers no financial help to mitigate the cost of repair/replace. I've read about others who have experienced the same thing at nearly the same mileage. How can I report that to the proper automotive agency.

You can complain but I doubt anyone will take note of a mechanical failure at 135,000 miles.

@jbromet i have the same issue with 2011 subaru outback with 137K miles. I'm sure you saw where they extended warranty on CVT transmission for this until July 2018, so I know that they are aware that they have an issue. But I'm sure we are a year too late to benefit. Let me know if you do find a way to report it, or have any luck with SOA. Thanks,
