Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2011 Chevrolet Malibu's tire pressure light will not go off.  I took to tire shop to make sure everything was fine and all 4 tires had proper pressure.  How to I reset my sensor.

Sensor light should be off if the tires are all properly inflated. Perhaps you have a defective sensor. Take it to the dealership and get it checked.

You can reset the tire pressure monitor by pressing the unlock and lock on your keys for abut five seconds while your car is set to on but the engine isn't running. Then you add or take away are in the front left tire until the car horn beeps. Move to the front right tire and do the same thing until the horn beeps. Then to the right rear and lastly the left rear. All will beep when the car has recognized the tires pressure sensor. if done correctly the horn will beep twice on the last tire letting you know you have reset the monitor

I just called local Chevrolet dealer about my wife's 2013 Malibu. They said $185.00 to replace sensor. Tire shop where we get our tires said they could do it for $80.00.

How much would you rather pay? Ask if the tire shop work has a warranty. Our local Les Schwab does it and they warranty everything.

My tire sensors on my 2010 Malibu keeps coming on at least twice a week. The ignition light keep flashing at times also. Most recently the steering wheel stiffed up on me while driving. I had to get the steering wheeling repair along with the ignition light several times and it keeps coming back on. This have been my fourth chevy purchase in 8 years and they all have ignition lights flashing after awhile and I never get any result or help from the dealer Bob Bell in Bel air MD. They give us some warranty story each time for each cars/trucks.
