How to I get my second key to start my car?

Question type: General

I had two 2001 bmw 530i keys, one working and the second dead.  I was able to start
the car with the dead key right after I started the car with the good key.  So, using the
second key, I drove around for 45 minutes assuming the battery would recharge.  After
the drive, I tried using the remote on this second key and nothing happened and it
would not start the car on its own.
So, I reprogrammed both keys.  Now, the remote works with both keys.  However, I still
can not start the car with the bad key.  It will only start the car right after I have started
the car with the good key.  Is there anything I can do to make the second key fully
functioning?

No sound,s like low voltage from weak battery may have shorted the key,may have to replace it.

Thank you both for answering. I have a quick follow-up question. As I stated, it's not that this key won't start the car under any circumstance. Why is it able to start the car after I start the car with the good key, turn the ignition off, place in the bad key and the car starts immediately. That doesn't sound like a normal "short" and the remote does work fine now. Do you think using the bad key for a long trip (over 2 hours) could help? Is it possible the battery needs to be fully charged? I have a working key and a second key is not necessary but it would be nice to have a backup key.

Because computer key from last crank is what it think,s it is,but when you cut car off it loose,s it power to crank again.
