What should I do with my 1998 BMW 5 series? Junkyard?

It was my fathers car and now it isn't running and hasnt been used in years.
Should I sell it to a junkyard or is it valued more? If memory serves me right,
the issue with it is a small piece in the engine which the labor would cost an
arm and a leg to fix to get to where the piece is. It was also in two accidents in
the past. What would this car be worth?

Scrapyard won't give you much at all for it. You can sell it off as parts or a fixer-upper for a better return.
If the interior is really nice, you are likely to get a higher price... What does it look like on the inside? Other than that, maybe you could donate this to a local trade school who needs a car to work on?? Or maybe a high school provided they still have auto shop classes?? Don't know if auto shop classes still exists in high school?
A fixer upper is probably best. It is more likely too specialized for a high school shop class, although you could take it as a deduction on your taxes. If they don't have a BMW computer, they aren't going to get much satisfaction out of working on the car. I have a 1998 M3 with 196,000 miles and the only problem I have is getting the correct parts for the "M". It still runs good, but they keep sending me "i" parts. They are different. The parts I am having trouble with right now are the correct springs to replace the struts. I will eventually find the parts, but for a school it may take too long to find the correct parts.
Hi I own a 2000 love it much. I'm learning How to fix little problems its starteing to give me, so its going in storage so I can do a tune up. struts ECT, So if I was you hold on to what your father left ok, , it takes time and money, but in the long run its worth it. good luck
