It should fit, I think the 2000 328i came with a GM5L40 model. You might want to check the 2003 to see if it is the same transmission. After march 2003 they went back to the GM, there was the ZF in there before that for the 330i's. There will be a sticker on the bottom of the pan to tell you. So I am not sure if there will be any program that needs to be done when performing the swap. Check with an independent BMW garage.
