Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently replaced my transmission which I purchased
from a salvage yard because my old one wouldn't go in
reverse. When I finished the project I replaced all the fluid
and proceeded to try to take it for a test drive. When I
placed the car into reverse to try to back out of my driveway
the transmission was not responsive.

Make sure you have the right amount of fluid. Mine was making a grinding noise between gears 3-6 so I tried to check the fluid. I let it got to operating temp, I see it run out the fill hole so I close it back. Go for a test drive, it makes the same noise, and then it wouldn't go into reverse after I got back. I'm positive that my mistake was that I checked it when the fluid was to hot which gave me a false reading. Haven't had any problems with the one I put in from the salvage yard. Good luck.
