Asked by Kellytown Jan 02, 2019 at 02:49 AM about the 2006 Cadillac CTS 3.6L RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced the battery last week and while idoling today the whole thing just
died out.   Cannot get key out now and nothing works still. The sunroof is
stuck open. Key stuck in ignition.  Held leads together and dash lights came
on for a few but every time we jumped it it eventually died out

New battery is not getting recharged by alternator. Things will run right when they again get some electricity. So have the alternator tested and possibly replaced. Recharge the battery with a charger, start it and drive to an auto parts store for alternator testing. It will run until battery runs out of power.
