Chevy Traverse engine light issue

Asked by Guru3SDZW Jul 07, 2020 at 02:46 PM about the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse 1LT AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello, I have a question about my Chevy Traverse 2011 and it has about
120K miles on it. Lately, the engine light would not come off. The code it
comes up with is P0008. It is running good, cannot hear the chain, everything
seems stable. Perhaps before we attempt to get inside the motor to mess
with the chains, is there any sensors that we can try to replace first?
Thank you!

Crankshaft position sensor. The sensor itself should only run you $20-$30. Try that before messing with the timing chain.

Nope, trouble code P0008 is telling us that the camshaft and crankshaft are not in the proper positions in relationship to each other. At 120,000 miles a worn timing chain is a very real possibility. Hope that helps! Jim
