Asked by Yslaughter Mar 12, 2017 at 09:49 AM about the 2010 Ford Fusion SEL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car loss acceleration in St. Louis on 3/5. I left it
a week at the Ford dealer. They replaced the purge
valve and massive sensor. Then 6 days later I was
driving on I75 in Marietta Ga at 1am. Car died out
while I was in the fast lane. It loss acceleration. Me
and my 2 grand children was nearly Killed by the
traffic coming behind me. Ford need to recall all
theses cars or let us trade them in on something
else. This is problem is going to be bigger if
somebody get killed.. Do anybody have any
suggestions on how we can start some type of
class action suit?

Possible throttle body. Check for codes. And does the wrench light or check engine light come on when the car is doing this

My 2011 Ford Fusion hybrid has done the same thing: car just dies in traffic, wrench symbol shows up, & warning light to Stop Carefully NOW. No choice; car just dies; it’s terrifying... and dangerous! After short wait, car starts right up, but today it stopped THREE times! Back to dealership (they tried two weeks ago to fix it, but couldn’t get it to “die”). This time they can keep it till they fix it! Totally unacceptable, dangerous, & potentially counter productive for Ford in terms of liability! Thanks for all the helpful comments here! First step for me: demand they replace the throttle assembly..

I'm working on a 2008 with same symptoms and there was DTC for throttle body - I replaced it and did the relearn and it resolved it ... So I thought. 2 days later is stalled while the customer was driving , and wouldn't restart until i unplugged the throttle body and plugged it back in?? I don't normally work on domestics . so this is driving me crazy . Any Techs on this thread that are familiar with this specific issue ? I also got a code Ive never seen on any car before "corrupt software identified" ??? this car has never had anyone upload anything to it but the dealer . Hoping this is something common that a FORD tech has a fix for ?
