If u have no binding written contract I would say...no

You can't force them if they don't hold up their end of the deal.

Cooling off laws vary a lot. California has a 3 day rule for used cars bought from a dealer but you have to pay for the coverage in advance. Private sales are not covered. Cooling off laws are not applicable to sales that never happened.
