Never heard of a refurbished battery. If a battery even has one bad cell it will not start a car. When buying a battery, buy new.

I've read there's been recalls with the ignition with models 2005-2010. Bring it to the dealership and tell them you believe there's a recall with the ignition (I'm not sure exactly what it is but many people have complained about a key getting stuck in the ignition). If the problem is a recall then the dealership will fix it for you for free regardless if you bought it from them or used (privately). I had a Chevy cavalier which is very similar to the cobalt which had an ignition switch recall and the dealership fixed it for free. I couldn't figure it out either, I thought it was the battery but my dad said right away look up if there's any recalls and he was right there were. Best of luck to you. Hope this helps!
