2008 BMW 328i engine noise

Asked by e92bmw08 Jul 14, 2016 at 04:21 PM about the 2008 BMW 3 Series 328i Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I decided to take a video of this just because I don't know
how to explain the noise coming from my engine. The
noise comes after you start especially after a cold start or
rest at least 3 hours or so. The noise disappear after a
couple minutes and that's it. My car has a 72k miles on it,
and it's a 2008 328i coupe. I need you guys help since I'm
not sure of what is wrong with it. Any help would be
appreciated! Thanks!

That may be just a bearing going out on one of the accessory pulleys. If you are handy, slacken the serpentine belt (a socket on the tensioner does the trick) then spin by hand each pulley - should spin smoothly. If you're lucky it's just the tensioner or idler pulley, versus a power steering pump or alternator or AC pulley. Keep in mind this is just a guess as I'm no BMW mech.
