gear selector not shifting from park

good day, i own a right hand drive range rover sport 2008 diesel tdv6
my gear shifter is stuck and not coming out of park...a fault is also coming up saying transmission fault limited gears avaialble...on the same day that this happened some liquid was spilled right by the gear shifter...my mechanic advised that i change the gear shift assy. as the solenoid would have been damaged ...i imported the part but its not working still...we also checked the brake sensors and every thing is fine,....can some one please advise?? thanks

i just had the same problem. I lefvt my sunroof open and it rained last night. Tried to drive car today and it wouldnt go in reverse. I got the same error message. Did you ever get yours fixed? Was it the liquid? What did u do?
