08 Mazda tribute advice

Asked by Camille Aug 17, 2019 at 01:14 PM about the 2008 Mazda Tribute s Sport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought my Mazda in Feb of 2018.. I had it
for about 6 months and it went thru a flash
flood.. I replaced spark plugs and everything
i could think of that i was told by everyone i
knew that knew about vehicles.. Im still
paying 300 a month on it and im desperately
trying to figure out if theres any good advice
from a good mechanic out there.. Possibly
different options to try and fix it.. I havent
touched it since it happend.. So no more
damage has been done besides the flood. I
cant afford to bring it in if its something
more expensive than i can afford and rather
just pay off my loan. I have about 2 grand
left on it. And all the guys that tried to help
me with it i think are just idiots.

So the Tribute has been sitting for a year, not able to run due to it getting water on the inside? How high was the water? Why didn't you call your insurance agent to post a claim? Are you just asking local mechanic to come over to give advise or try and get it running?

Your problems are now compounded because it sat for so long. Gas in the lines will gum up and you may have bigger problems. The flood in itself can screw up a lot of your electrical system because it can short out parts of the car that would need to be diagnosed by a technician who can think. Engine flooded parts invite corrosion on many of the water phobic internal parts. It is unfortunate for you, but you may want to try to part it out if there is little value in it. This could be a costly repair bill for you.
