honda fit spark plugs

Asked by clockman Nov 04, 2014 at 03:29 PM about the 2008 Honda Fit Sport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Do spark plugs commonly go bad in 2008 Honda Fits? There was a loud 'pop' in mine
and then it sounded like the exhaust 'blew'. Pulled off the side of the road and had it
towed in because it sounded awful. Mechanic said the spark plugs were blown and that it
was a common problem. Can't find anyone else complaining about that.

A spark plug was ejected on my honda fit 2007 this morning. Did yours unscrew or blew the threads? How is your car now?

Same problem on my 2008 Honda Fit with 133,000 miles on it. Stripped the threads right out. Looking at retapping the hole and installing inserts. Anyone else done this on the Honda?

My 2007 Honda Fit blew the #2 spark plug at around 135,000. It didn't totally strip the threads and although the dealership wouldn't warranty/guarantee the work, they were able to retap and install an insert that was still holding when the #1 plug blew out at 184,000 miles. There had been a sound like a horn blowing under the hood for some time before it blew out. This time, there was not enough thread to retap.

My niece's 2011 Honda Fit just blew a spark plug out of the cylinder head. Seems to be a more-common-than-it-should-be issue on Fits.

my honda 2012 fit blew a spark plug at 51,000. ended up with complete new engine.. cost me $!000...as not under warrantee.. but there are many problems with blown sparks plugs and this occuring according to my garage machanic. Honda will end up with a recall i believe. so many problems with air bags too.

A MECHANIC REPLACED MY 2008 HONDA FIT WITH AUTOLITE IRIDIUM PLUGS I BOUGHT 14 MONTHS AGO. ALL 4 PLUGS WERE BADLY MISSING AFTER JUST 24,000 MILES OF USE. I WAS IN SHOCK. STICK WITH NGK OR DENSO--PLUGS THEY LAST 100,000 MILES. CRIPE, I THOUGHT MY TRANSMISION WAS SLIPPING--THANK GOODNESS FOR DIAGNOSTICS!

My 2012 Honda Fit just did this - spark plug blew out the threads will cost $4600 to repair which is about the same as the car is worth... Does anyone know if Honda has addressed this?
