is it possible for the PCM to go bad on a o8 Ford Explorer

check engine light came on Auto Zone says it's the 02 sensor then car shuts
down and won't start had it towed and diagnosed they said I need to replace my
PCM feel like I'm getting hustled

Autozone says...I get so tired of hearing that. You really want somebody that makes $8.00 per hour telling you what is wrong with your vehicle?

A PCM can wear out and fail like any other part on your vehicle. But it will rarely tell on itself. What trouble code did Autozone give you? A bad 02 sensor won't prevent the engine from running. But a bad PCM will. Hope that helps! Jim
