Timing belt

I changed the timing belt, water pump, tensioner and spark plugs on my 2008 Ridgeline at 87600 miles. The old belt still looked almost new.
I am having my timing belt replaced as we speak. I have own Honda products in the past and it seams this is a common suggestion for them, change the timing belt after so many miles. The belt is not like a chain, so the longevity is no comparison. The best way to look at it, if the timing belt goes out, most likely you'll be replacing the engine. Comparing the cost of replace the timing belt verses the engine, the answer is simply, replace the timing belt.
Well, the Honda schedule, found in the owners manual or at any mechanic's shop, is 60,000 to 100,000 miles; it depends on driving conditions & how hard you drive it. If you're a pussycat, follow the latter; if you're an aggressive driver, follow the former. It is best to do this in combination with other repairs to save money. so doing this when you replace the water pump would be an excellent idea.
