Cat Converter - 2008 Ford F250 5.4

Asked by Guru943521 Sep 25, 2020 at 06:30 PM about the 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty XL 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My cat converter failed while in Mexico.  Mechanic there cut them out and re-
welded the exhaust back together.  Can I just weld universal cat converters
back in place?  Thanks.

You cannot use universal cats in California and probably some other states. Do your research to see what is legal where you live. In California you have to use a product that is approved by the state and listed on the CARB website for your vehicle.
