overheating and missfires at 50mph

For two days my truck has been over heating and it
loses power a little when it gets up to 50mph plus
the check engine light starts ringing. I'm thinking
water pump and thermostats. I have to let the
heater  run while I'm driving to keep it from
overheating too fast. What should I do.

check the check engine code. Start by replacing thermostat and verify coolant is circulating through the radiator.
