the heater or a/c on my Ls is not working at all, I took it to a shop and I was told that the comfort control unit needed to be replace. I looked it up on the Ford web page but the part does not exist, does the unit has a different name?

I do not know that name, but they may be referring to the climate control unit. That is what controls the heating/ac in the car. Located below the radio in the upper console area
