Sharp stop while reversing in Tahoe,

10

Asked by Notintheknow Oct 28, 2020 at 08:20 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe LT RWD

Question type: General

What  went wrong with my Tahoe
when, while reversing just now it
did a dead stop, made a noise and
jerked like I had hit something.
Now it will not reverse but does
go forward. For a few minutes
had a loud squeaky noise but that
is gone now. The shifter goes into
reverse and the car sounds like it
does when it is readying to go
move in reverse but it won't go.
Help please

My 2001 Suburban 2500 did that. The servo piston rod wore out. Pull the servo cap off the side of the trans and inspect those parts. With a fillip screwdriver, see if your band clutch is still moving.
