Car sometimes doesn't turn on?

Asked by Guru7TX8Q Jun 07, 2020 at 07:15 PM about the 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a chevy cobalt ss Supercharged 07 I'm having a
problem with it for some reason I'm having a shortage or
something because my car randomly doesnt want to start
sometimes and other times does start. And there is times
where I cant started and I have press a little on the gas
pedal to start. I cheked fuel filter and changed it and still
does it and fuel pump is still good cuz I can gear it
engaging and I kind of cheked the fuel injectors as well if
they where working. I'm trying to figure out what's wrong
idk if it could be a bad ground or something. I also kind did
something to get my car going again cuz my car would not
start and the only light that would turn on is the theft
system but it would just blink and come off but wouldn't
crank or anything I will leave a pic under so u could see
what I did idk if it's right or not or maybe this is what
causing for my car not to turn on. Thanks if I could really
get some help cuz this problem is ANNOYING.

Yes, your jumper wire could be causing other problems. I'm not sure what its for, but i would never mess with the wiring harness on a modern car. First make sure your battery is strong and that all connections, including the several different grounds on the car are clean and tight. Scan for trouble codes. There is probably information stored in your computer that will guide you. Don't start replacing parts until you know they are faulty. Just because the computer says a certain sensor is not working does not mean its the sensor. It may be bad electrical connections making the computer think its faulty. Sometimes the best money you can spend is money spent at a shop that specializes in automotive electrical systems. Good luck. These sort of problems can be frustrating. PS: Search through the Cobalt threads here. There have been lots of discussions about this sort of thing with lots of fixes that seem to have worked for at least one or two people. Things like replacing a certain fuse or adding a ground wire somewhere. My own electrical glitch in my '06 SS is to switch the headlights to high beam for a couple of seconds. Restores my gauges and power steering every time.
