Question type: Maintenance & Repair

07 Cobalt federal emissions engine swap
My 07 Cobalt 2.2L has federal emissions but
I'm thinking of replacing engine with one with
California emissions & just remove the
California stuff.
Is this as easy as it sounds?

Yes it's that easy normally California emissions is exhaust related so just use your existing manifold when you put the new engine in

@Guru94P96R, is the EGR system or other components different? I only ask bc the lower emissions are reduced somehow & I'm not educated on the subject (& can't find anything on the subject)

Also as always when your doing a swap when you have the engine out set it next to the new engine and you want to make sure all sensors and everything match the engine that came out of your car. So swap over whatever you have to and keep it simple as possible
