Not getting correct amount of gas it has

I have a 2006 infiniti g35 coupe and it isn't marking the
right amount of gas. It's reading half a tank but turns out is
has no gas. What can I do?

Thank you. I just bought it and they said they replaced the fuel pump so I don't understand why it's still happening.
