Probably refrigerant . Have a shop check it out to verify. With a 17 year old car, leaks are inevitable.

Agreed the refrigerant would be the first thing to check.
My Saab 9-3 ..2003 air conditioning blowing hot air I had condensing unit replacement 2 years ago and blower replaced last year. Does it need Freon charge? Or something else?
