Do you need to disconnect the battery when removing the B pillar post covers to prevent the side airbags from deploying?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am removing the headliner and have run into two issues.  The first is whether I need to disconnect the battery before I attempt to pull off the B pillar cover.  I also need to determine how the clothing hooks (4) are held in place and, therefore, what I need to do to remove them.

I would definitely disconnect the battery. probably no chance of deployment, but better safe than sorry.

Battery disconnection is one of the easiest safety measures you can take. Do it.

Thanks for the input. Any thoughts on the hanger clips? They have a center plug that comes loose but no common hardware is exposed. Just a cavity. Is there a special tool needed or should it pop loose if given enough force around the edges?

Traver, while I have had to remove interior parts before, I have never done so on your model. If you have a specific model question you can call a body shop and ask. The best source is a body shop at a dealership that deals in your specific model. General body shops may know too, but the dealers may have more experience with your model. Good luck. Mike.
