i have a 1997 chevy cheyenne with the 4.3 vortec that is not getting spark. it
will turn over but will not run. i have tested the ecm and it is getting power to
it, but no power coming out of the coil. changed the crank position sensor but
did not fix the issue. everything i have checked so far hasnt done anything at
all. tested and changed all fiuses having to do with the issue, checked and
swapped out the relays, unplugged and tested all the connections to my
knowledge. im stumped, i dont understand because it was running just fine,
never giving any trouble at all, then all of a sudden i went to take off, put her
in first and it died out. thought i may have just stalled out but after it wouldnt
run and hasnt since.

no security light and i tried the security reset just in case i had a faulty light but still came up short. i am in the middle of pulling all the wiring from the crankshaft position sensor to the ecm to make sure all the wire is good and cleaning all the connections to see if that does anything. not sure of what else to do at this point

I haven't replaced the coil. But doesn't seem to be getting power to the coil

With the help of a home made L.E.D test light I found that the coil is not getting the switching signal from the icm, and the icm IS receiving the switching signal from the pcm. Which, in turn, means I have confirmed that the icm is fried! A little patience and some redneck ingenuity saved a lot of unnecessary money! Thanks for the help guys
