Why does it say overheating

I have a 2003 buick CENTURY and we have taken it
to shop after shop. Here is what is wrong with is
the overheating gage red lines soon after you start
driving it you can stop the car and get out to check
the engine but nothing on the car is hot everything
is cold. What could it be we have replaced the head
gasket the motor has been redone and the
transmission is new plz help I paid 200 for the car
and sent 7,000 in it

Sounds like the wiring going to the coolant temperature sensor is damaged and touching something metal. When this happens the gauge on the dash is grounded and is forced to the hot side of the gauge giving you a false reading. The coolant temperature sensor itself could be bad as well. If you replace the coolant temperature sensor get an AC Delco sensor. GMs don't like aftermarket coolant temperature sensors for some reason. Hope that helps! Jim
