Ignition replacement 2000 Buick century

My ex girlfriend ripped my key out of my ignition breaking
the tumblers in the lock cylinder. In replacing the ignition
lock cylinder I could not get the key to turn to the on
position so I had to punch it out with a flathead. In doing
this it broke housing around it. I found an ignition in the
salvage yard that had the ignition switch intact and has a
KEY. Can I install this into my car or are they programmed
to the ecu?

If anyone ever reads this, yes it is interchangable. The component that reads the chip is inside the ignition switch housing. plug n play, she runs like a champ now
