What is the main difference between a Carrera S and a simple Carrera about a 2006 model

I am in the market for a 2005 or 2006 Porsche Carrera, and at times i see Carrera S, and i
have no idea as to what that means.

The S model has a V8 engine. I've driven both the V6 and V8 models on an autocross course. They both handle amazingly well, true to Porsche handling. Personally I see no reason to go with a gas-guzzling V8. If you always have a loaded car with people and baggage, maybe the V8 is better.

The "S" model Carrera is a 997. A newer improved version of the 996. 997 handling is superior. The "S" comes with the 3.8 liter pumping 355 HP over stock Carrera 325. And, you have stopping power. 996 Turbo brakes are on the "S" model. Definitely go for the "S" model. Very robust, I have tested many on many track configurations. Or, look for a 40th Anniversary car, which has same HP and 51 more options with the factory X51 package standard on the 2004 Carrera..
