My Automatic wont go In drive.

Asked by Devon Mar 07, 2020 at 06:30 AM about the 2007 Buick Lucerne V6 CXL FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car seems to be having an issue going in Drive
it will go in reverse and when i manually put it in
1st then 2nd then once i get it in 3rd i can then put
it back in drive then its fine. But as soon as i slow
back down i have to repeat above steps in order to
get it going forward again. I have not experienced
any issues at all with shifting or the operation of
my car till now this is totally out of the blue. I have
an 07 Buick Lucerne Cxl 3.8l. No codes have been
thrown but ive been having the suspicion my
check light burned out.

When you turn the key in the ignition, before you start the vehicle, all the indicators light up including the CEL. if it doesn't then you do have a bulb issue. But most times a transmission error won't trip the light to come on. From your description it sounds like your transaxle is in need of attention. Something internal is worn and will need replacing. Find a good mechanic or trans shop to diagnose the exact issue.
