You get a camshaft that is shaped different than the stock cam. Do you get Jegs or a simliar magazine? these magazines usually have charts for engine sizes. also when you call the company to order they will ask you all kinds of questions. such as, what is the operating rpm range, intake cylinder heads, exhaust, etc. it can get somewhat pricy.

if you could tell me what V6 you have i could probably help you out with your cam choice. I assume you are using the car as a daily driver and want a little more performance and the deep throaty sound you can get with a larger camshaft and upgraded exaust.

Not to be a total snob, but I will be. I don't get a woodie from listening to v-6s, straight 6s, four bangers or other less engines. A V-8 or V-12 get my attention, no matter what you do to a v-6 other that a full out Indy type motor that reves over 10G. Cheep way is use headers and mufflers to get a deeper sound. You can re-cam you V-6, but it will turn into a lot of money to do it correctly, actually a total engine rebuild since you are nearly tearing down the upper half of your engine. New or totally reworked heads, new exhaust and computer re-programming, and smog testing finger crossing.

Summit Racing has an on line listing of 90 cams for a V-6. You will need more than the cam, which is from $150 to $350 depending on the cut/grind, manufacturer and type of material it is made from. If you buy one, give them a call and they will tell you what you will need to put it in for your engine. You need to know what type of changes you want. They can help a lot and save time, and most important, money and aggregation.
