Is it possible to install an engine from a 2005 trailblazer into a 2007 trailblazer

change the brain box with it..

I'm assuming that would be the only difference? Some mechanics have told me that they wouldn't work but could not tell me why? So replacing the computer would make the interchange possible?

I had a mechanic pull my 2006 trailblazer 4.2 engine to place in my 2005 Envoy and he said it would not work (after he pulled it). He changed me only $200 for pulling the engine out. I still have it if anyone needs one. It has 8,800 on the newer engine and 127,000 on the trans. They are still married together. I am looking into a cheap body but having difficulty finding one. I just put a 2004 4.2l motor in my 2007 envoy. Perfect match. Just keep the newer computer because the plugs won't fit and extend your temp sensor wires v because they're in the back of the motor and the 06 is in the front. Everything worked great started up and runs great!

Hey GuruBSRBS I currently have a 2002 Trailblazer 4.2 IL6 entire vehicle for sale. Motor threw some kind of bearing but still runs just wont make it far. It has a brand new radiator, water pump, plugs, ignition coils, and i honestly cant remember everything else we've replaced on It. Just got an offer on a 4.2L envoy motor to drop in it for $450, but I just want it gone. Nothing but problems from the start. I'm the 3rd owner with clean title in hand. If I can't sell it it'll be going for scrap. Guess my question is will the envoy 4.2L fit in my 2002 Trailblazer? I haven't been told yet what year the envoy motor is tho
