Saturn Sl-1 Brake Lights Always On

I have a 1999 Saturn Sl-1 sedan and when the
headlights are off, the brake lights function
seemingly normally (completely off, all come on
when braking) however whenever I turn either my
interior lights or headlights on, all three brake lights
come on as well. they will get brighter if i press the
pedal, and i’m pretty stumped.

it isn’t the brake pedal switch, and the bulbs in the
third brake light seem all good to me. appreciate
any help/tips, thanks!

Sounds like a short to ground. Or possibly a bad ground. If you have an aftermarket stereo check there first. The illumination for the radio is tied into the headlight circuit and the interior lights are tied into that circuit as well. Hope that helps! Jim
