Advice on getting rid of a vehicle?

Asked by rollingsnapshot Feb 24, 2016 at 01:59 AM about the 2006 Kia Spectra Spectra5

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I have a 2006 Kia Spectra5. The timing belt broke on it last week as I was driving down the road. I had the belt replaced, and it did indeed bend the valves.  So the engine still needs work obviously. The vehicle has brand new tires on it and I don't want to just chuck it at a salvage yard.  It has almost 196,000 miles on it and until this happened, it ran great. Can anyone offer suggestions on getting rid of this vehicle with it's engine problems without me losing money since I just put a $570 set of tires on it? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Either find some junk tires to put on, or put the hole car up for sale with the blown motor, and ask $600-$800 for it. Or both.
