Oil pressure 2001 GMC Sierra

Asked by Angel Oct 27, 2017 at 04:53 PM about the 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 SL Extended Cab LB

Question type: General

My 2001 GMC Sierra oil pressure is
reading between 35psi and 60 psi, is that
normal? It reads 50/55psi on start up.
When I take off, it reads 60/62psi? After
running for about 10/15 mins it dies down
to about 35/40.

Yes it sounds about normal ....if you are in doubt, rent a oil pressure tester and test it yourself or have a shop do it for you. If your guage goes right off the high end it is usually the sending unit.
