Lost all the water from the radiator

Asked by W Oct 12, 2020 at 02:23 AM about the 1996 Chevrolet Camaro RS Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Last night i stopped to vacuum my 96 camaro rs
when i moved the car i noticed a large puddle
where it had been sitting. It didn't overheat but
the radiator was near empty but the reserve was
full. After adding water to the radiator i noticed it
was leaking from somewhere below. I recently
replaced the thermostat only to find it had been
taken it before i bought the car.....any
suggestions pin what it could be?

water pump weep hole. AS the water pump seal gets old it will leak from a small hole on the water pump. When an engine is warm the cooling system is pressurized about 16 LBS. So a small hole leaking under pressure causes a large leak. Never use water.... always use antifreeze. The reason is when water leaks you cant smell it happening but with antifreeze, you can. Once you find the leak and repair it make sure to purge the cooling system while filling.
