Asked by schne16 May 12, 2019 at 08:05 PM about the 2007 GMC Acadia SLT-1 FWD

Question type: General

About 45 minutes into driving, the voltage gauge drops from 14+ to about 13.  Sometime after that, it will creep back up.  Is this normal?

Probably. At first, the alternator needs to do double duty - recharging your battery and running any accessories. When the battery is back to full charge, the load on the alternator drops and it only needs to power the accessories running. You will notice this as a drop in output to about 13 volts.
