Acura TL 2007 when I try to start the car the lights will turn on and I will hear a single click, but start does not engage. If I turn the key off and then on again and hold it to start the car it will then turn over as long as I hold the key on.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I can start the car on the second try and it will continue to crank as long as I
hold the key on.    It used to start if I just turned the key on and let go.   Now I
have to turn it off and then on again and hold the key on to get it to turn over
and start.    It was intermittent for a while, but now I have to do it every time.

Dealer tested the car and it actually was just the starter. Apparently the system was having an issue with the solenoid and was able to start by holding key or re-engaging the starter by turning off and on again.
