2006 Jeep Commander

Asked by jorgelu17_ May 21, 2018 at 04:02 PM about the 2006 Jeep Commander Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 Jeep Commander.  My a/c would come on intermittently and then
stopped working all together.  I went ahead and replaced the resistor and it
kicked on and works great for both heat and a/c but now the darn thing will not
turn off  unless i turn off the key position to off.  My control knob doesn't switch
to any speeds and doesn't turn it off?  Please help!!

Behind the controls at the center console are a couple cables that control this in most cars. Most times people have this same problem, it is because the plastic clip that holds the cable is broken so that the control dial can no longer tension the cable. The cable works alot like a brake cables and gear changer cables on a bicycle.

Im not entirely sure this is the problem, but with what youve said it seems like this could be a good place to start.
