something electrical

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

battery is fine..car starts right up.  Often "code" appears on radio when I start up.  sometimes at a stop sign, car just quits, radio goes off and back on...and car restarts with ease. sometimes car "burps"..an interruption which instantly shuts off and then on radio and never quite stalls. newest one is ignition is very dead...no noise..then the car alarm goes off and I have to get out, turn key in door, get back in and it starts up fine....or..dead ignition and I get out and key in door, get back in and it starts up fine(no alarm these times).  My mechanic has had it for days and cannot locate the problem, which is expanding since "code".  I am afraid to drive it on an expressway for fear it will cut out and I'll be run over by an 18 wheeler.  What is the problem, please???

What a weird problem. All I can think is a loos conection somewhere, the computer, instruments cluster , a ground conections , etc.
