Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have owned my Miata for 2 years - 3 times this has happened - after driving an hour or so- when I press the gas pedal it acts like it wants to die - it has a whining noise under/behind the driver seat - anyone else have this problem?

Read this forum. Sounds like a common issue. http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=475431

Hello Lorie If the sound is coming from behind the drivers seat back where thr conv top lays when its down, that sounds like the fuel pump is going bad. The pump itself cost around $60 to $80 bucks plus what the mechanic wants to charge for the labor. The fuel pump is accessed from inside the car and fuel tank does not need to be removed from the car, the access panel is located under the carpet behind the seats. Here is a video link that show the access and how to change the fuel pump if you decide to do it yourself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hy8wzghWowk Good Luck Michael
