Car won’t start after sitting a while

Asked by Deaner100 May 05, 2020 at 06:36 AM about the 1999 Mazda MX-5 Miata 10th Anniversary

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1999 Miata starts but after it sits for a while it tries to start but won’t. This
happens occasionally. The check engine light comes i whenn this happens.
Also once in a while when I’m driving it it will start to run rough. Then it
corrects itself. Could this be the CPS?

Difficulty starting a cold engine might be a defective cold-start injector, or a defective fuel pump or pressure regulator, or leaking injectors. The CEL is illuminating primarily due to emissions control issues, and this can cause an engine to run rough..... Go to a car parts store nd have codes read, probably free. That will give you better direction.
