1996 Mazda MX-5 Miata M-Edition

Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

I asked a question several months ago about replacing the engine on my 1996
Mazda MX-5 Miata M-Edition- I was quoted by my mechanic $4000
approximately.  I was asked if maintenance was regular, and yes oil changes
every 3-4,000 miles, regular tune ups, etc.  I have records for the years I
owned the car.  I purchased it with only 2,000 miles on it!  Now I have to face
the fact that replacing the engine is not the best option, I am hoping to sell to a
collector.  What price should I sell this beautiful car for?  I would love to get
$6000 but maybe I am aiming too high?   What do you all recommend?

1 Answer

If the engine is bad then it is not worth much at all. Maybe a thousand on a good day provided the rest of the car is very clean.
