I am looking at a 2003 gti with 150,000 miles on it. the car has a full turbo back ehxaust, cold air intake, flashed ecu, neuspeed coil overs... The guy is asking 5,000 firm. any suggestions?? I dont know anything about vw's other than it looks good and is fun to drive.
any vehicle is worth what you are willing to pay for it.I feel 5 grand is to much for a vw,thats just me.
150k on a 1.8T is still going to last you but it might be time for a new turbo soon and absolutely time for the timing belt to be done. Figure yourself another $1000 for the belt job unless you can do it yourself. It's a hell of a job though. The turbo replacement will also be a less than enjoyable experience. Beyond that, GTi is a fun car and it sounds like that one is pushing over 200hp and was probably taken care of. Unlike most tuner genres, vw owners generally love their cars more than their children. I wouldn't say 5k is a lot... but I would definitely talk them down.
